About Our Classes

  • Mindfulness Meditation with Dr. Thanh Huynh

The teaching will begin with a few minutes of introduction from all who have come so that attendees are able to share their physical and emotional concerns and build community. The meditation will commence with a short reading and study from a teacher such as Thich Nhat Hanh and a 20-minute sit. The practitioners will be reminded to watch their thoughts and feel their breath at the introduction to the meditation. At times, a guided meditation will be offered. After the sit we will together reflect upon what emerged as meaningful during our practice. We will take a few moments to share and discuss with one another. We will end with a short few minutes of silence to close out the evening. Mindfulness will be the throughline theme and I would occasionally bring in mindful tea drinking, visual or audio-based practices to offer rounded and diverse mindfulness experiences.

  • Plum Village Tradition Meditation with Honolulu MIndfulness Community

Every Tuesday night, members of the Honolulu Mindfulness Community, whose practices represent the Plum Village tradition established by Thich Nhat Hanh, present sitting and walking meditations, along with Sutra readings and discussion.

    Very good for beginning students
